Saturday, February 20th brings you a day of deep learning, hard work, and FUN in the dance studio w/ Cera of Damage Control Dance Theater.
10am-1pm: Soft Locks, Fluid Transitions, and Covering Space
Technique workshop for Advanced Beginning - Advanced dancers. A thorough warmup with an eye toward finding your own dynamic alignmet and conditioning for dance will be followed by an exploration of pops, locks, hits, and smoothe movement, with an eye toward manipulating the texture of your movements to give you a wide range of expression. These exercises will culminate in learning a section of one of Cera's solo choreographies.
2-6pm: Choreography, Improv, & Performance Skills
An exciting lab for any dancer seeking to broaden their skills in Chroreography & Improvisation, and pick up tips and tricks for dynamic stage presence + developing performance personae.We will use games, writing, exercises, and simple acting techniques to help you increase your range of expression. These are tools that you can apply to everything you do in both solo and troupe work.
Please bring a notebook, pens, clothes you can really move in, knee pads, and your willingness to WORK!
